90 Day Fiancé: Why Corey & Evelin Are the next Nicole & Azan

Corey and Evelin's on-off relationship is annoying fans of the hit TLC show90 Day Fiancé, making them believe that they are going to provide pointless drama the way that a previous couple did: Nicole and Azan from seasons 4 and 5. The couple may act like they're committed, and they are spending lockdown together in Ecuador, but they say that they are broken up. Not even a deadly virus is helping them with organizing priorities in the face of imminent illness. Quite ironically, Nicole and Azan are going through the same situation.

Corey Rathegeber thought moving in with his fiancee Evelin Villegas would be a good idea. He decided to move to Ecuador, and dismantle his life in the states. Since then, the relationship has not been doing well; Corey was caught cheating on Evelin and not wearing his engagement ring. During seasons 4 and 5, Nicole and Azan were a long-distance couple, with the latter hailing from Morocco. They met on a dating app and did meet in person to confirm if the attraction was real. While they weren't handling a pandemic and imminent lockdown at the time of their relationship, they did keep putting off their engagement. As an added pleasant or unpleasant twist, Nicole is now in Morocco waiting for the okay to fly home.

Reddit notes that they have seen this behavior before with previous couples on the show. Cory and Evelin are doing a game of getting together, dealing with drama putting off their engagement, and promising that their wedding will happen. Yet last we heard, they are no longer together. Fans are getting fed up, and understandably so. People want to know one way or the other if this is going to be an actual relationship of endless drama. The two couples show this similarity: Evelin and Nicole, against common sense, gave their partners multiple chances to shape up and show a propensity to change.

It's human nature to seek out romances that are inherently destructive or unhealthy; many works of fiction discuss that. People also want something else, however: closure if not a happy ending. We want to know what sort of relationship is going to work out and what won't. That way the couple isn't wasting their time, and neither is the audience. There is a reason that people are concerned about Nicole supporting Azan's other wife and children, while her own daughter is back in Florida.

To a lesser extent, it's also a question about why let this drama persist for themselves. Evelin could do so much better than a guy who didn't think through living with her, or considering the pandemic.

Of course, the other question is that maybe the show is risking a tedious repetition. Fans want new drama, not old stuff that makes you want to tweet at the couples to tell them to show some common sense. The producers may need to get creative with their editing to deliver unique content.

We have already seen one half of a couple make a drastic decision in the face of the pandemic. They decided to travel, risking their heart as well as their stability with the virus grounding a large portion of international travel. While this would be a grand romantic gesture, it is also downright dangerous. A person can be away from their home base for months on end, possibly longer if they start developing symptoms. They may want to show their love, but sometimes you have to put your personal health first. Nicole deserves much better than Azan; fans can only hope that Evelin wises up the minute that Corey can fly and end it once and for all.
