Red Dead Redemption 2 Single-Player DLC Petition Started By Players

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have started a petition asking forRockstar Games to develop and release single-player story DLC for the game. Red Dead Redemption 2 was initially released for consoles almost two years ago and was subsequently released on PC and Stadia last year. Since its launch, the game has yet to receive any newstory, with most of the released updates being catered to Red Dead Online, the game’s online multiplayer component.

Despite being the second game in the Red Dead Redemption series, Red Dead Redemption 2 is actually a prequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption, which isn’t surprising considering how that game concluded. The prequel stars Arthur Morgan, who was in the same gang as Red Dead Redemption’s John Marston, and is set years before the events of the original. And much like the original, Red Dead Redemption 2 garnered universal acclaim among fans and critics, only falling slightly out of favor a few weeks after launch over Rockstar's antiquated game design approach. Since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, the developer has been focused on the development of several new games and is said to be currently working on Grand Theft Auto 6.

The online petition was started by Ivan Ojeda via Change.org and is pretty straightforward, only stating, “Let's get our voices heard. We want Red Dead Redemption 2 Single player DLCs. It doesn't have to be free.†So far, it’s gotten over 300 signatures with a goal of 500. Notably, the petition has been up for quite some time as it was posted at least a year ago but only got to 250 signatures, halfway to its goal, just recently.

Some of the comments in the petition express support for more single-player story DLC, including a potential sequel to Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare DLC, with some even confessing their willingness to pay for post-launch content. Others have also suggested a potential Blackwater flashback or a continuation of Red Dead Redemption’s story within RDR2. Some have also stated their criticisms for Red Dead Online and the myriad of microtransactions featured in the service, as well as in the core game.

Although new single-player story DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 would definitely be appreciated by fans of the game, it seems highly unlikely, apart from the slim chance for a potential Undead Nightmare 2. However, even that could end up just being relegated to a Red Dead Online event rather than a true single-player campaign, much as significant world-changing content is held back from the main game in GTA Online. With the amount of updates the studio is releasing for Red Dead Online, it seems disappointingly clear where the company’s focus is as far as post-launch support is concerned.
