Indian Idol 13: Kareena Kapoor Khan and kids of Sharmila Tagore have the kindest words for their ‘Amma’
Kareena Kapoor Khan has always maintained that she shares a warm and loving relationship with her mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore. Being one of the biggest stars of the 70s, Sharmila is known to break stereotypes and has worked in the industry for over 60 years. The actress, who is still as graceful and elegant onscreen, recently attended the singing reality show Indian Idol 13, where she was impressed by the talents of the contestants. During her stint in the show, her children decided to surprise her and sent a special message to the yesteryear actress that made her emotional.
Saif Ali Khan had the kindest of words for his mother and he went on to call her an ‘inspiration’ and how she has ‘broken stereotypes’. On the other hand, Kareena Kapoor Khan credited Sharmila Tagore for being the pillar of unity and keeping the family together. The actress said, “Amma ke baare mein jitna kahu utna kam rahega. (Whatever I say about Amma will be less). Jab hum amma ke sath rehte hain toh (Whenever we are with Amma) there are two words that come to my mind always – love and solidarity. She is someone who is so correct, who is always solid in every form, chahe voh apne dosto ke sath ho, family ke sath ho, bachchon ke sath (be it with her friends, family, or the kids) with Taimur and Jeh, Sara and Ibrahim. I think she is truly like the grounding factor of this family and we are all very lucky to be under her umbrella. I love you and respect you a lot and I hope you have a fantastic show.”
On the other hand, Saif Ali Khan also spoke about his ‘Amma’ adding how her principles and virtues are the reason he learned to respect working women. He also asserted that he can be a stay-at-home father with ease while Kareena is in a different country completing her work commitments. “Aap industry mein 60 years se hai aur aapke itne years industry mein kaam karne ke bavajud humein kabhi ghar mein aapki kami mehsus nahi hui. Aapne ghar aur work ka humesha balance banake rakha hai. (You are in the industry for the past 60 years and despite working for so many years, we have never felt your absence in the house or in our lives. You have always maintained a great work-life balance.)
You have always been a great inspiration for us and all the women out there, especially working women. Aapne humesha saare stereotypes break kiye hain. (You have always broken the stereotypes). You have continued to keep working even after having children and have given the biggest hits of your career like Aaradhana, Amar Prem, Chupke Chupke. You taught us to respect working women. Tabhi toh main aaj ghar pe baitkar Taimur and Jeh ka khayal rakh raha hoon aur Kareena London mein apni film shoot kar rahi hai. (That’s why today, I am at home looking after my kids, Taimur and Jeh while Kareena is in London, shooting for her film).
Besides him, Soha Ali Khan spoke about how she loves to spend time with her mother when she is in Mumbai whereas Saba Ali Khan discussed the things she learned from Sharmila Tagore.
