Sriram Raghavan believes Vijay Sethupathi could have had a memorable role in Jawan: “More audiences got to see him because it had Shah Rukh Khan”
Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi is receiving rave reviews. The film, released on January 12, 2024, is being hailed by critics and audiences. In a recent conversation, Raghavan reflected on working with Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi and how the Hindi-speaking audience has been eagerly anticipating his work.
Sriram Raghavan admits that the massive success of the Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead with Vijay Sethupathi as the villain amplified the anticipation surrounding Sethupathi’s next release. Raghavan recognized his popularity and cited the positive reception of his previous work Farzi for his eccentric character portrayal. He admitted that Jawan exposed Sethupathi’s reach to a wider audience, he felt that the actor could have had a more impactful and memorable role in the film. Speaking to India Today, Sriram Raghavan said, “As soon as it came, people really enjoyed him. Of course, with Jawan, more audiences got to see him because it had Shah Rukh Khan. But I wish he had a much more memorable role in Jawan. With this film, his first Hindi outing, I think he’s gotten what he deserves.”
Talking about how rooted Sethupathi is about his stardom, Sriram added, “He has come up the hard way. So, he’s grateful and the best part is that he’s always in the quest to learn.”
Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi has an array of line-up including Maharaja, and Gandhi Talks among others. On the other hand, Sriram Raghavan will soon kick off Ikkis as his next directorial starring Agastya Nanda, Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat.
