Rick and Morty Season 5: Release Date & Story Details

Rick and Morty season 4 may be over, but thanks to an epic episode order from Adult Swim, fans can look forward to seeing season 5 and several more seasons beyond that. Created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, the animated series follows the adventures of caustic genius scientist Rick Sanchez and his anxious grandson Morty Smith as they travel across the multiverse.

Season 4 was split into two halves of five episodes each, which saw Rick and Morty engage in a series of rapidly escalating heists, spend an uncomfortable amount of time in a vat of acid, and create and destroy a whole civilization in the space of a week. In other words, it was a fairly typical season.

Given the show'saddictive blend of extremely dark humor and high-concept science fiction, Rick and Morty fans will understandably be keen to see the duo (and sometimes Summer, and occasionally Beth, but never Jerry) return for more adventures. Here's what we know so far about what to expect from Rick and Morty season 5.

In a stunning and welcome move, Adult Swim gave the green light for an additional 70 episodes of Rick and Morty after season 3, which means that Harmon and Roiland are still clear for another 60 episodes. Assuming that each upcoming season is ten episodes long, like the past three seasons have been, that means that Rick and Morty has been renewed up to season 10. Needless to say, it will be a while before fans have to worry about the security of the show's future.

Less certain than Rick and Morty's future is season 5's premiere date. The show's release schedule has so far been rather sporadic and subject to long hiatuses. Rick and Morty's creators said in 2018 that from season 4 onwards there will no longer be any long breaks between seasons, but it remains to be seen how the show's production will be impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Animation is easier to continue under lockdown than filming a live-action show, from a logistical standpoint, but working remotely could still slow things down. Optimistically, we can look forward to Rick and Morty season 5 premiering in late 2020.

Rick and Morty season 4 wrapped up with the reveal that Rick had indeed cloned Beth, and sent one of the Beths off into space to become an adventurer. Unfortunately, since Rick randomized which version of Beth went into space, there's no way of knowing which one of them is the clone. The two Beths do manage to reconcile at the end of the episode, and it looks like Space Beth will be sticking around for season 5. Meanwhile, Phoenixperson also returned and is currently stashed in pieces in Rick's workshop.

Each season of Rick and Morty typically saves ongoing storylines for the first and/or last episode, with standalone adventures in between. Season 4's ending has certainly shifted the status quo a little with the return of Space Beth, but not quite as much as Rick getting thrown in prison like he did at the end of season 2. Rick and Morty season 5 will likely jump right back into random adventures - and perhaps even bring back another long-missing character: Evil Morty.

Daredevil Can Even Resist [SPOILER]'s Mind Control | Screen Rant

Daredevil is the blind vigilante that hides behind the alias of lawyer Matt Murdock, but he is not very good at managing to keep his identity a secret. After his cover being blown once again in the comics, Murdock relocates to San Francisco for a new life with his girlfriend Kirsten McDuffie. Murdock even sets up a new law firm in the city, but his haunting past will not leave him alone. Daredevil finds himself facing his old foes all over again.

Like many other Marvel superheroes, Matt Murdock not only has to fight the villains of the world, but also faces a daily battle with his own personal demons. Daredevil has overcome many things that stood in his way, but he has struggled for a long time with a personal battle with depression. Depression is a topic that many writers have tried to explain over the years, but it is expressed perfectly on the pages of Daredevil #10 by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee. How Matt's depression makes him feel is described in vast detail over the first few pages. The simple black panels with Daredevil's words standing out on the pages are a reflection of the darkness that the character feels every day. The immobilizing isolation depression causes is also touched on by Waid, who himself has been open publicly about his struggles with the mental illness.

In Daredevil #10, Matt Murdock finally overcomes the Purple Man's powers of persuasion because of his depression. He feels alone, but he is being beaten up by Killgrave. The Purple Man tries to control Murdock, but nothing happens. Daredevil's brain has fallen so far into the pits of darkness he describes, that his own thoughts are able to block out Killgrave's commands. His depression has stopped him from feeling anything, so he is able to fight back against Killgrave. The fighting helps pull Daredevil out of his depressive slump and he is able to build up enough momentum to chase the Purple Man away.

The fact that Daredevil's depression helped him defeat Killgrave is a complete contrast to fellow Hell's Kitchen hero Jessica Jones, who suffered from PTSD for years after being under the influence of the Purple Man. The Purple Man features again later in the issue, controlling a group of children in an arcade. Daredevil swings in to try and save them, but he struggles to resist Killgrave due to getting caught in the crossfire of the kid's emotions. The music in the arcade is incredibly loud, but it gives Daredevil the idea. He turns it up so the police can barge in to rescue the children and be unaffected by Killgrave's orders due to the fact the music can drown out his commands.

The children slowly recover, but Matt's own personal demons return once again. His girlfriend spots that something is amiss, and turns up to his flat so he does not suffer in silence. The issue ends by showing just how important talking and having a strong support network is when trying to keep the depression brain demons at bay.

Real Life Spider-Man Cleans Graffiti After Twin Cities Protests

A real-lifeSpider-Mancleans graffiti after protests in the Twin Cities. Everyone's favorite neighborhood superhero came to life in a poignant image after one of the many protests rocking the nation.Uncle Ben would likely be proud of the real-life Spidey. With great power comes great responsibility and a need for superheroes, especially during the current crisis rocking the United States.

Protests erupted around America after the death of George Floyd last week. A viral video depicted Floyd being held captive under the knee of a white police officer for nearly nine minutes. Americans were outraged that the officer didn't take his knee off of Floyd, even after Floyd appeared utterly non-responsive. Unfortunately, some outliers have turned generally peaceful protests into riots and looting, which led to many cities in dire need of a cleanup crew. Enter Peter Parker.

A man dressed as Spider-Man was captured in a great photo on Twitter. What makes the picture poignant is the fact that Spider-Man can be seen sweeping up after a protest in the Twin Cities, where the inciting incident with Floyd and the police officer occurred. The masked man in question isn't calling any attention to himself, just doing what superheroes do best — helping and protecting the populace. Check out the photo below.

As seen with the coronavirus pandemic and now the protests, the real world, and the entertainment world often collide in utterly unexpected ways. After all, Batman was spotted at a protest in Philadelphia, which elicited huge and hopeful cheers from the protestors. Even the Elmo in flames meme became involved after a demonstrator wearing an Elmo costume struck poses that brought a whole new meaning to the term, "hellmo." Many celebrities have also become involved with the protests, with actors like John Cusack sharing a video of his own altercation with police in Chicago. Streaming giants like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and HBO have also posted statements supporting the Black Lives Matter movement on their respective social media pages. What's great about the Spider-Man picture, however, is how quiet it is amongst the chaos. Images like Spider-Man helping to clean up the city can be a vital dose of desperately needed hope in trying times.

The next Spider-Man movie isn't set to premiere until November 5th, 2021. While many film were delayed due to the coronavirus, it's nice to see real-life superheroes stepping up to the plate in the interim. When real-world issues collide with superheroes that fans are familiar with, a glimmer of hope is bound to happen. And that's what the world needs now, more than ever.
