Zombieland: All Of Columbus' Survival Rules | Screen Rant

Last Updated: June 7, 2020

InZombieland,Columbus has a set of rules that he put together in order to survive the zombie apocalypse. The movie, directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom), first went into development in 2005 before the final script was written. Zombieland followed a group of four people who band together for a cross-country road trip during a zombie epidemic (a strain of mad cow disease mutated, resulting in a massive outbreak). Those affected across the United States started to attack and kill the innocent.

Zombieland starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin as the core leads. Harrelson and Eisenberg played Tallahassee and Columbus, two survivors that eventually run into a pair of sisters, Wichita (Stone) and Little Rock (Breslin). Rather than get attached to people, it was best to go by nicknames or in their case, the locations that they identified with.

From the start of the movie, Columbus is shown to be following a set of rules he's created for living in a zombie-ravaged land. Presented below are all of Columbus' (known) rules to surviving the apocalypse in Zombieland, some were revealed in the film itself, others came via posters or promo clips. Some sources erroneously list rules made up by fan sites or other non-canon sources to fill in all 33 slots, but the rules listed here are all officially sanctioned.

Rule #1: Cardio

Rule #2: Double Tap

Rule #3: Beware of Bathrooms

Rule #4: Seatbelts

Rule #6: Cast Iron Skillet (Promo Clip)

Rule #7: Travel Light

Rule #8: Get a Kickass Partner (Poster)

Rule #12: Bounty Paper Towels (Promo Clip)

Rule #15: Bowling Ball (Promo Clip)

Rule #17: (Don’t) Be a Hero

Rule #18: Limber Up

Rule #21: Avoid Strip Clubs (Poster)

Rule #22: When in Doubt, Know Your Way Out

Rule #29: The Buddy System (Promo Clip)

Rule #31: Check the Back Seat

Rule #32: Enjoy the Little Things

Rule #33: Swiss Army Knife (Promo Clip)

Additionally, the following rules were introduced by Columbus in Zombieland: Double Tap, in which he says his list has expanded to 73 rules.

23. Ziploc Bags

36. Sunscreen

42. Keep Your Hands to Yourself

52. Don't Be Afraid to Ask for Help

53. Wet Naps

Columbus put the rules together as he went along his journey with Tallahassee. Some of the rules are more self-explanatory than others. For example, the first one, cardio, was included to point out that the faster you are, the better chance you have at running away to safety. It's also important to not be a hero, as suggested with rule #17 as showing off could backfire. Many of the rules aren't just aimed at fighting zombies, some explain the necessities for survival supplies and how to keep up with hygiene.

Arguably the most important rule would be #2, the double tap, which also happened to influence the title of the Zombieland sequel, releasing this October. Columbus instituted the double tap rule as a way to remind himself to never assume a zombie wass dead. A second shot to the zombie's head was always required.

Only a handful of Columbus' rules were displayed in Zombieland, with the others shared through promotional materials. The young man certainly didn't seem like the type who was capable of living through an invasion of flesh-eating zombies but his rules paved the way to his survival, including the new rules revealed in Zombieland: Double Tap. Hopefully those involved eventually release an official full list of all 73.

90 Day Fiancé: Why Corey & Evelin Are the next Nicole & Azan

Corey and Evelin's on-off relationship is annoying fans of the hit TLC show90 Day Fiancé, making them believe that they are going to provide pointless drama the way that a previous couple did: Nicole and Azan from seasons 4 and 5. The couple may act like they're committed, and they are spending lockdown together in Ecuador, but they say that they are broken up. Not even a deadly virus is helping them with organizing priorities in the face of imminent illness. Quite ironically, Nicole and Azan are going through the same situation.

Corey Rathegeber thought moving in with his fiancee Evelin Villegas would be a good idea. He decided to move to Ecuador, and dismantle his life in the states. Since then, the relationship has not been doing well; Corey was caught cheating on Evelin and not wearing his engagement ring. During seasons 4 and 5, Nicole and Azan were a long-distance couple, with the latter hailing from Morocco. They met on a dating app and did meet in person to confirm if the attraction was real. While they weren't handling a pandemic and imminent lockdown at the time of their relationship, they did keep putting off their engagement. As an added pleasant or unpleasant twist, Nicole is now in Morocco waiting for the okay to fly home.

Reddit notes that they have seen this behavior before with previous couples on the show. Cory and Evelin are doing a game of getting together, dealing with drama putting off their engagement, and promising that their wedding will happen. Yet last we heard, they are no longer together. Fans are getting fed up, and understandably so. People want to know one way or the other if this is going to be an actual relationship of endless drama. The two couples show this similarity: Evelin and Nicole, against common sense, gave their partners multiple chances to shape up and show a propensity to change.

It's human nature to seek out romances that are inherently destructive or unhealthy; many works of fiction discuss that. People also want something else, however: closure if not a happy ending. We want to know what sort of relationship is going to work out and what won't. That way the couple isn't wasting their time, and neither is the audience. There is a reason that people are concerned about Nicole supporting Azan's other wife and children, while her own daughter is back in Florida.

To a lesser extent, it's also a question about why let this drama persist for themselves. Evelin could do so much better than a guy who didn't think through living with her, or considering the pandemic.

Of course, the other question is that maybe the show is risking a tedious repetition. Fans want new drama, not old stuff that makes you want to tweet at the couples to tell them to show some common sense. The producers may need to get creative with their editing to deliver unique content.

We have already seen one half of a couple make a drastic decision in the face of the pandemic. They decided to travel, risking their heart as well as their stability with the virus grounding a large portion of international travel. While this would be a grand romantic gesture, it is also downright dangerous. A person can be away from their home base for months on end, possibly longer if they start developing symptoms. They may want to show their love, but sometimes you have to put your personal health first. Nicole deserves much better than Azan; fans can only hope that Evelin wises up the minute that Corey can fly and end it once and for all.

Another one from the Met Gala appearance of both artists. Even photo experts would not be able to tell that this picture is edited. Don't forget to check out the most extended sleeves in the world.

He even took the risk of photoshopping Vogue's cover page, and it turned out just perfect! Forgive us, but they look like a hot sexy couple here.

Doctor Who: Every Time The Doctor Has Gotten Married

ClassicDoctor Who fans often protest the Doctor should be largely asexual, but he's actually gotten married a surprising number of times. In 1996, theDoctor Who TV movie made history when - for the first time - it showed the Doctor share a passionate kiss with doctor Grace Holloway, who had served as a sort of companion figure. Until then, the Doctor had been assumed to be largely asexual, and certainly producers and showrunners avoided giving the impression there was any hanky-panky going on in the TARDIS. McGann's Doctor was unusually attractive, and writers of the Doctor Who books couldn't resist implying he had a new degree of sexuality as part of that incarnation. In Lance Parkin's "Dying Days," companion Bernice Summerfield kissed him on the mouth and pushed him on to a bed, before the scene promptly ended - leaving the rest to the imagination.

Of course, in reality the Doctor has never been explicitly asexual. When William Hartnell was introduced as the First Doctor, he was traveling with his granddaughter Susan, which explicitly suggested the Doctor had a family at one time, with at least one child. This was confirmed in the post-2005 Doctor Who relaunch, with the Tenth Doctor telling Rose he "was a dad once." In "The Doctor's Daughter," advanced technology was used to give the Doctor a new daughter, Jenny, and looking at her reminded him of the loss of his family.

The Doctor has been confirmed to marry twice, both in the new series. The most notable wife is, of course, River Song, the temporally confused daughter of the Doctor's companions Amy and Rory, who experiences time in a different way to the Doctor. This was a strange romance, given the two were experiencing their timelines in completely different ways. Still, it's the only relationship the Doctor has had that seemed to be between equals.

Another prominent marriage was between the Ninth Doctor and Queen Elizabeth the First. As shown in "The Day of the Doctor," the wandering Time Lord met Elizabeth when he arrived on Earth looking for Zygon invaders. The two married in a sweet (but rushed) ceremony, witnessed by two other incarnations of the Doctor. He didn't stick around, though, and instead abandoned the so-called Virgin Queen.

By "The Shakespeare Code" in 1599, Elizabeth had grown deeply angered at the Doctor's actions. She ordered him executed as soon as she clapped eyes on him. Amusingly, this marriage actually means the Doctor has another familial relationship to Amy and Rory; according to "The Power of Three," Amy accidentally married Queen Elizabeth's father Henry VIII. Amy is therefore technically the Doctor's mother-in-law twice over.

The Doctor has a habit of getting accidentally engaged. In fact, in "The Aztecs" the First Doctor famously accepted a cup of cocoa from an elderly Aztec woman named Cameca, unaware it constituted a proposal. The Tenth Doctor admitted he accidentally got married to Marilyn Monroe when they crossed paths at a party in 1952, although he questioned the chapel's legitimacy in "A Christmas Carol." And River Song accused him of also marrying Queen Cleopatra in "The Husbands of River Song," with the Doctor apparently quite unhappy she brought that up.
