Though these two are definitely the female stars of the industry, there’s also Shraddha Kapoor, who has a tremendous fan following and is a star in her own right.

The actress, who celebrates her birthday today, has a whopping 77.8 million followers, and counting, on Instagram. This makes her the third most followed Indian personality on Instagram, after cricketer Virat Kohli with 238 million followers and Priyanka Chopra with 85.3 million followers.

Frankly, it’s no surprise that she is so popular. She was a part of some popular and memorable films like Aashiqui 2 (2013), Ek Villain (2014), ABCD – Any Body Can Dance – 2 (2015), Baaghi (2016), Half Girlfriend (2017), Stree (2018), Saaho (2019) etc. She started her career with films like Teen Patti (2010) and Luv Ka The End (2011) and with Aashiqui 2, she went on another level. Songs play an important play in any actors’ career and in that regard; she has been a part of several hits such as the songs of Aashiqui 2 or ‘Galiyan’, ‘Sun Saathiya’, ‘Cham Cham’, ‘Main Phir Bhi Tumko Chahungi’, ‘Milegi Milegi’, ‘Psycho Saiyaan’, etc.

Another strong factor of Shraddha Kapoor is her youthful appeal. She has a fan base among males and females of all age groups. She can easily pass on as a girl next door or a bubbly cute sass. And with her upcoming release Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, she proves that she can also convincingly play the role of a hot bombshell. Her bikini look grabbed everyone’s eyeballs and only got praise. This film too has some chartbuster songs and has only boosted her popularity and appeal. She has delivered five Rs. 100 crore grossers till now. Stree collecting Rs. 129.90 crores happened majorly due to her as she was a bigger name in the film. She also created history in 2019 as Saaho and Chhichhore came back to back and both were smash hits. Her last release, Baaghi 3 (2020), would have also crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark had the pandemic not halted its theatrical run.

And with this, we come to a significant aspect. Her last release arrived in cinemas exactly three years ago. Though she was away from the limelight for so long, her popularity never dwindled and this truly is a feat. Her being away from the big screen has only proved advantageous, just like it happened in the case of Shah Rukh Khan in Pathaan. There’s a heavy demand to see Shraddha Kapoor on screen and this will benefit Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. She was indeed seen in ‘Thumkeshwari’ in Bhediya (2022) but the song was not a part of the final cut. Many also felt that had she appeared in the film as ‘Stree’, Bhediya would have collected more.

It’s crucial that the birthday girl Shraddha Kapoor signs the correct films from here on – films that connect with the masses and which justify her presence. If she gets it right, nothing can stop her from becoming one of the greatest stars of this country a few years from now!

Rajkummar Rao, Alaya F and Jyotika starrer SRI to release on September 15

T-Series and Chalk N Cheese Films’ upcoming drama SRI is all set to release on 15 September this year. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Alaya F, Jyotika and Sharad Kelkar, the film is the biopic of the visually impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla. The film marks south actress Jyotika’s return to Bollywood after a long hiatus.

Sharing more about the Tushar Hiranandani directorial venture, an official statement from the makers said, “Written by Jagdeep Sidhu and Sumit Purohit, pictured by Pratham Mehta, SRI is a biopic of an industrialist Srikanth Bolla, who didn’t let his visual impairment come in the way of his vision and founded Bollant Industries.”

Speaking about his excitement to back SRI, Bhushan Kumar, head honcho of T-Series, had earlier said, “Srikanth Bolla’s story testifies the very proverb of acing against the odds. Having faced so many challenges since birth, yet not letting anything hamper his dreams – his journey is truly inspirational. And it’s indeed a privilege to be associated with a person like him. The personality of this character is such that only an actor of a calibre like Rajkummar Rao can justify it and we are happy to have such a fine actor on board. Tushar Hiranandani’s vision to showcase this captivating story is very peculiar. As we are thrilled to make this film, we are equally excited for the audiences to witness this compelling story of Srikanth!”

Rajkummar was last seen in Vasan Bala’s Monica, O My Darling, which also starred Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte and Sikandar Kher. He then played a cameo in the Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer Bhediya. He reprised his character Vicky from Stree in the horror comedy.

BTS’ J-Hope unveils first music video teaser of ‘on the street’ featuring American rapper J.Cole, watch

BTS’ resident rapper-songwriter-producer j-hope will kick off March 2023 with a new single ‘on the street’. Set to release on March 3, the single will mark his first collaboration with American record producer and rapper J.Cole. The announcement was officially made via the first music video teaser.

The teaser sees j-hope walking down streets of New York City as he meets J.Cole as the official collaboration gets confirmed. ‘on the street’ is a lo-fi hip-hop track with easy-listening melody and warm-hearted lyrics. j-hope participated in the songwriting of the song which delivers a hopeful message and warmth that reminds listeners of his positive and bright energy.

The key motif of the track comes from the word ‘street’ which can be interpreted as a place where many people’s everyday lives pass by—a metaphor for life. It comes from ‘street dance,’ the genre that represents j-hope’s roots as an artist, and it also symbolizes the path that he will continue to take with his fans around the world.

j-hope has often regarded J.Cole as an artist he always looked up to. J. Cole was one of the headliners at Lollapalooza US in 2022 and j-hope met him backstage during the four-day festival where the South Korean rapper was also the headliner.

‘On the street’ is set to be revealed on March 3 along with a music video. Last year, j-hope also validated his capability as a creative director by leading all aspects—from music to concept and visual elements—of his solo album, Jack In The Box (July 2022), which addresses his passion and agony he goes through as an artist. In 2022, j-hope made history as the first South Korean act to headline a main stage at Lollapalooza.

Gaiety Galaxy’s Manoj Desai slams Akshay Kumar for visiting Kapil Sharma’s show for promotions amid box office failure; says Jab We Met’s re-release earned more than Selfiee

After Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan and Ram Setu, Akshay Kumar’s fifth movie Selfiee has failed at the box office in a row. As many have spoken about the actor’s failure at the box office, veteran film exhibitor and producer Manoj Desai of Gaiety Galaxy and Maratha Mandir fame has said that he had to discontinue the movie after two days due to lack of demand.

Speaking to Filmi Fever, Desai said, “Selfiee toh udd gayi pehle do-teen din mein. Aap pehle choosy they. Aapki sab filmein dekh dekh ke itni khushi hoti thi. Bahut dukh ho raha hai mujhe. Public gaali deke jaati hai mujhe Selfiee ki wajah se. Jo mere jaan ne waale hain woh keh rahe hain ki, ‘Kya Desai saahab picture lagayi Selfiee ussey achcha toh Shahid-Kareena ki Jab We Met laga dete achcha collection de rahi hai.’ Selfiee se achcha collection 16 saal purani picture Jab We Met de rahi hai, aapko sochna chahiye aap kahaan hain.”

He added, “Woh s**le Kapil Sharma ke show me aap parso gaye the, kya mila? Ullu ka patha hai wo toh, usko kamaana hai, Sony se maal milta hai. Public ko bewakoof banana hai, public ko hasana hai! Aap kya ghadi ghadi udhar jaa rahe hai? Aapka kuch usme investment hai? Wo toh Salman Khan ka show hai. Aap kya jaate hai Kapil ke sath? Mere dosto meri public ne kitna bola hai Akshay Kumar ji ghadi ghadi us show pe jaate hai, unko shobha deta hai? Ab mai aapko puchta hu, aapko shobha deta hai?”

The Gaiety Galaxy executive director said that Kapil Sharma has invited him three times to his show. “Kabhi tumhari tareef karta hai, kabhi kachra karta hai. Ye aapko shobha deta hai? Kamaal kar rahe ho, kya ho gaya hai? What is wrong with you?” he questioned Akshay Kumar.

Selfiee opened to Rs. 2.55 crore collection on February 24 and collected Rs. 10.35 crore in its opening weekend.

Ram Charan reacts to being called Indian Brad Pitt by American hosts during RRR promotions

With the Oscars 2023 right around the corner, Ram Charan has been busy promoting his Telugu film RRR in LA. SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan will reportedly attend the award show in the US.  Ram Charan, who is currently in Los Angeles promoting RRR, recently made an appearance on KTLA Entertainment show, where the host asked him about the comparisons being made to Brad Pitt.

When the host said, “He has been referred to as the Brad Pitt of India, do you like that designation?” Charan laughed as he replied, “I mean I like Brad Pitt for sure.”

The Academy recently announced that singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will perform the RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu’ at Oscars 2023. The viral song will be performed on March 12 at the 95th Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, the film will release in theatres as a part of a ‘Fan CelebRRRation’ “courtesy of Variance Films, Beyond Fest, American Cinematheque, Potentate, and Sarigama Cinemas.”

RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ won Best Original Song at the Golden Globes 2023 and Best Foreign Language Film at the Critics Choice Awards 2023. The song has also been nominated for Best Original Song for the Oscars 2023.

RRR stars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in the leading roles along with Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in special roles. The film released last year in March and went on to become a blockbuster. RRR is a fictional tale of two Indian revolutionaries, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. The film explores the friendship between Ram and Bheem and their journey away from home during the 1920s.

BLANK2Y call off U.S. tour following Youngbin’s removal from the group after assault allegations

South Korean band BLANK2Y has officially called off their American tour following Youngbin’s removal from the group after assault allegations from his ex-girlfriend.

As shared by the Korean tabloid Soompi, last week, BLANK2Y’s agency Keystone Entertainment announced that Youngbin had been removed from the group due to allegations of dating violence. According to an anonymous online post that was later confirmed by the agency to be about Youngbin, the idol physically assaulted and strangled his girlfriend when she tried to break up with him.

Keystone Entertainment and concert organizer Studio PAV officially announced on February 28 that the tour, which was supposed to take place in May, has now been cancelled. “Due to the recent controversy involving a [former] member, BLANK2Y’s U.S. tour that was scheduled for May 2023 has been cancelled following discussions with the concert organizer,” Keystone Entertainment said.

“We sincerely apologize for having to convey this cancellation news to all the fans who had been waiting for BLANK2Y’s U.S. tour, and we ask for your generous understanding,” the agency added. Meanwhile, Studio PAV shared in a statement, “Due to the recent event, we will not be moving forward with BLANK2Y 1ST U.S. TOUR that was planned for May 2023.

We sincerely apologize to fans who were excited to see BLANK2Y. We will closely monitor the situation and possibly reconsider the tour for the future. We wish the best of luck to BLANK2Y and will continue to support them moving forward. Thank you for your understanding,” the studio concluded.
