Ahead of his sentencing in March, Empire actor Jussie Smollett has sought a new trial. Back in December, Smollett was found guilty when he was on trial for his alleged role in fabricating an assault with two brothers with whom he'd worked with on Empire serving as his accomplices. TMZ now reports that Smollett's lawyers are asking for a new trial in Chicago, claiming his rights were violated, though they'd also be willing to accept the verdict to be reversed with Smollett declared not guilty.
It looks like we will be getting a lot more from the Outlander series, as a new prequel show is in the works at Starz. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Outlander executive producer and showrunner Matthew B. Roberts is attached to write and executive produce the prequel. Roberts currently has an overall deal at Sony. It looks like a writers room is currently being put together with a target date to begin in the coming weeks.

Lindsey Erin Pearlman, the famed General Hospital actress, was found dead on Friday after she had been reported missing for several days. The long-awaited revival of Beavis and Butt-Head is almost here. Back in 2020, it was announced that Comedy Central would develop two seasons of a new Beavis and Butt-Head series while a separate untitled movie would stream on Paramount+. It's now been announced by the streamer that Paramount+ will become the exclusive home to Beavis and Butt-Head, with the revival series skipping its TV premiere on Comedy Central to go straight to streaming. Jimmy McGill gets animated in a first look at Slippin' Jimmy, a short-form animated series developed as a promotional tool for AMC's sixth and final season of Better Call Saul. Per Variety, the six-part, short-form animated series "follows the misadventures of a young Jimmy McGill and his childhood friends in Chicago." Each episode is animated and told in the style of different 70s-era cartoon shows, also spoofing movie genres from spaghetti westerns to exorcism horror. James Gunn’s violent, raunchy superhero series Peacemaker debuted on HBO Max last month, becoming the streamer’s first DCEU TV series. Little Town, the Disney+ prequel series to Beauty and the Beast has been shut down, according to new reports. As late as last month, the Josh Gad and Luke Evans led show was seemingly all set to film in the summer after adding more cast members, including singer Rita Ora, but the eight-episode series has now had the rug pulled from under it thanks to production schedules falling massively behind their planned timeline. This has led to the decision to put the project "on hold", although there does not seem to be a suggestion when it will be returned to, if at all.
