20 Years of Hungama EXCLUSIVE: Was Aftab Shivdasani’s character Nandu the son of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte from Hera Pheri? The actor opens up on this crossover, attempted 20 years before Pathaan and Tiger: “I think it would have been a fabulous crossover”

“I still can’t believe it’s been 20 years. Hungama (2003) is a timeless film,” was the first thing Aftab Shivdasani remarked when Bollywood Hungama exclusively talked to him about his much-loved comic caper, which celebrates its 20th anniversary on August 1. The actor had a long day and yet, took out time to excitedly share his memories of working on the film, which was directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Ratan Jain’s Venus Records And Tapes Pvt Ltd, his journey and a lot more.

Do you remember how you bagged Hungama?
I remember my manager got a call from Ratan ji’s office, informing me about a film with Priyan that they would like me to act in. We met in Sun-N-Sand Hotel, if my memory serves right, where I met Priyan sir, Ratan ji and Neeraj Vora for a narration. Neeraj Vora was the one who did the narration. The narration went on for nearly two hours. By the end of it, I was so confused that I took a pen and paper and started writing down the list of characters and their equations. I had to do it as I just couldn’t get who is doing what as there are so many cross-connections in the film. That’s how I try to make sense of the plot. I also remember I was laughing while listening to the story. I agreed to do it instantly. I always wanted to work with Priyan sir. Also, I had earlier worked with Neeraj Vora in Mast (1998), my first film. He was with me during Awara Paagal Deewana (2002). He had narrated its script as well and was on the set for every single shot. We got along really well and I have the deepest love and respect for him. I felt he was absolutely a genius. Hence, I was also comfortable hearing Hungama’s narration from him.

Honestly, I still don’t know who is playing what in the film! That’s because my track was pretty clear of all the cross-connections that were happening. After a point, I just gave up trying to understand the rest of the cross-connections!

But the greatness of the script and direction was that audiences didn’t get confused even once…
That’s the beauty of it. I can tell you that the actors were confused but the maker was not. What I especially liked about it is that we weren’t trying to be funny. The confrontation is so intense that it seems funny. That’s the kind of comedy I love doing.

How was it to work with Akshaye Khanna and Rimi Sen?
Akshaye and I actually had just two scenes. One was the confrontation scene and the other was in the climax. In the rest of the film, we never really cross paths. Most of my scenes were with Rimi, Upasana Singh ji and Tiku Talsania ji. As for Rimi, this was her first film. Yet, she was such a confident actor. Her timing was so impeccable. One couldn’t make out that this was her debut film. She was also great to work with as she was so good at comedy.

You spoke about Neeraj Vora and his greatness. If he was alive, he would have turned 60 years this year, in January…
His energy was so infectious. I still can’t come to terms with the fact that he’s no more. I don’t think the void has been filled and I don’t think it will be filled.

Hungama is a remake of Poochakkoru Mookkuthi (1984) and interestingly, a lot of changes were made in dialogues. One of the underrated scenes in the film is when your character while performing in a restaurant tells a guest, ‘Divorce ke liye bhi gaana hai mere paas’. The angry guest retorts, ‘Woh tum jaa ke apne biwi ko sunao’!
(Laughs) Yes, that was Neeraj Vora’s improvisation. He had a background in Gujarati theatre. Hence, he came up with the best one-liners. And it was the timing…it was just unparalleled.

In a scene where your missing ad is shown, we come to know that Nandu’s surname is Apte and he was the son of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, the iconic character played by Paresh Rawal in Hera Pheri (2000)…
This has become a popular meme. Honestly, this must be something that Neeraj ji and Priyan planted. I didn’t know the newspaper ad had a Baburao Apte reference.

This could have been the first crossover of Bollywood, much before Pathaan-Tiger and Singham-Simmba-Sooryavanshi…
(Laughs) Yes, it could have! I think it would have been a fabulous crossover. I actually saw it online just a few years ago. This is all thanks to social media.

Did you go to the cinema halls to check the audience’s reaction? I remember people couldn’t stop laughing in our show, especially in the climax…
Unfortunately, I didn’t go for this film. But I did do so for other films of mine in the cinemas in a very incognito way. Nevertheless, it’s a film that is considered timeless. People tell me that it’s a rare film which they can watch over and over again. And yet, it feels like they are watching it for the first time. Sometimes, magic just happens. You don’t plan it.

How were the reviews for the film? Did our hard-nosed critics like the film?
I don’t remember. Also, I’ve never really looked at reviews much.

What did you think of Hungama 2 (2021)?
I haven’t seen it.

Next year, you’ll complete 25 years as an actor (if one doesn’t count his appearances as a child actor). How has been your journey?
Again, I just can’t believe it’ll be 25 years. It’s gone by so quickly. Sometimes, I feel I have just begun (my career) though I am sure I have worked in 55-60 films. I love what I do. Often, people complain that I do selective work. My reply is that I want quality work over quantity. In today’s day and age, so much choice is available due to the OTT platforms. Hence, I’d rather do something qualitative. I can’t lie with my work. I need to be passionately involved with what I do.

Is there anything in the pipeline?
There are a few projects that I am planning. I did an interesting film last year, Riwaj. It was supposed to release this year but I am not sure when it’ll come out. It’s quite an intense, socially-relevant film. It’s something which is in tandem with what’s happening in today’s society and a film I always wanted to do. I have an interesting character in this film. And there are a couple of exciting projects I plan to start after October.

You had announced in 2020 that you’d be producing a horror film, Dhund…
That film is shelved.

Do you have plans to direct and produce?
I am not sure about direction. But my wife and I are definitely producing. We have also registered a company.

There are reports that Awara Paagal Deewana 2 is being made. Have you been approached for it?
I have no news about it. So, I can’t really say anything. But I am sure if it’s made, Firoz bhai (producer Firoz Nadiadwala) will do a great job.

Lastly, did you ever meet Raveena Tandon after Mast? She said in an interview that when you were a child actor, you puked on her hand after consuming too many chocolates for a scene…
(Laughs) Yes, that was for an ad for Cibaca toothpaste. Prahlad Kakar was directing it. She was an AD on that set. Honestly, it was 35 years ago. We met after that incident and laughed it off.

Has she forgiven you?
I hope she has (laughs).

BREAKING: OMG Oh My God 2 is Akshay Kumar’s FIRST film in 12 years to get an ‘A’ certificate from the CBFC

Bollywood Hungama was one of the first ones to report that OMG Oh My God 2, has faced issues at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Examining Committee (EC), after watching the film, referred the Akshay Kumar starrer to the Revising Committee (RC) since the film had a religious angle and the former didn’t want to take any chances. On July 17, CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi saw the film after which a screening was held for the RC. The RC, too, developed cold feet on seeing the film. Though they agreed that the issue of sex education in the film is sensitively tackled, they were apprehensive more so after the Adipurush episode. Also, the brouhaha over Oppenheimer’s Bhagavad Gita scene further added to their fears. In both instances, questions were raised as to how the CBFC passed the scenes that have hurt religious sentiments.

Bollywood Hungama, however, has learnt that the censor troubles for OMG Oh My God 2 are over. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The film has been passed by the CBFC but with an ‘A’ certificate. The makers tried their best to get a U/A certificate as they believe that the under-18 crowd should watch their film for its message. However, that would have meant accepting several cuts.” As per reports, OMG Oh My God 2 has been granted ‘A’ certificate with some audio cuts. There has been no visual cut if the reports are to be believed.

After the cuts were accepted, OMG Oh My God 2 was granted a censor certificate yesterday, on July 31. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate, is 2 hours and 36 minutes.

OMG Oh My God 2, interestingly, will be Akshay Kumar’s first film in 12 years to get an adults-only certificate. The last ‘A’ flick by Akshay was Desi Boyz (2011).

The promotional campaign for the film is now expected to start immediately. The source signed off by saying, “There was a possibility of the release getting postponed had the CBFC not cleared the film on time. Now that it’s done, it’ll be out on August 11 as scheduled.”

Apart from Akshay Kumar, OMG Oh My God 2 also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam.

Daler Mehndi and Mika Singh to feature as actors in Akshay Kumar-Sanjay Dutt-Arshad Warsi starrer Welcome 3

Welcome (2007) is one of the funniest films of Bollywood and has a tremendous recall value. Though the sequel, Welcome Back (2015), was not as memorable, there’s a lot of excitement for Welcome 3. Recently, Arshad Warsi spilled the beans and confessed that apart from him, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Paresh Rawal are also a part of the third part of the franchise. A few days later, reports emerged that Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi have replaced Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar in Welcome 3.

Bollywood Hungama now brings another exciting and unexpected update from this much-awaited comic caper. A source told us, “Daler Mehndi and Mika Singh have also bagged Welcome 3. They’ll be seen as actors in this film. It’s an interesting addition to the multi-starrer and their roles are expected to be very funny and crucial to the plot. Both Daler and Mika were taken aback when they were offered the film. However, they realized that theirs is a fun role. Hence, both the talented brothers decided to sign on the dotted line.”

Daler Mehndi is a legendary singer and songwriter who popularized Bhangra worldwide with his Indipop songs. He has also song popular film songs like ‘Na Na Na Na Na Re’ from Mrityudaata (1997), the title song of Rang De Basanti (2006), ‘Halla Bol’ from Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007), ‘Bhootni Ke‘ from Singh Is Kinng (2008), ‘Zor Ka Jhatka’ from Action Replayy (2010), ‘Vande Mataram’ from ABCD – Any Body Can Dance – 2 (2015), ‘Jiyo Re Baahubali’ from Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion (2017), ‘Jagga Jiteya’ from Uri – The Surgical Strike (2019), etc.

Mika Singh, meanwhile, also got famous through pop songs and has song hit tracks like ‘Dil Mein Baji Guitar’ from Apna Sapna Money Money (2006), ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’ from Jab We Met (2007), ‘Ganpat’ from Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007), ‘Dhanno’ from Housefull (2010), ‘Subah Hone Na De’ from Desi Boyz (2011), ‘Dhinka Chika’ from Ready (2011), ‘Gandi Baat’ from R…Rajkumar (2013), ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ from Kick (2014), ‘440 Volt’ from Sultan (2016), ‘Aankh Maarey’ from Simmba (2018), ‘Milegi Milegi’ from Stree (2018) to name a few.

Welcome 3, interestingly, also marks the acting debut of Daler Mehndi. Mika Singh, however, has acted in films before like Mitti (2010), Loot (2011) and Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya (2014).

Gadar 2: A fan lifts a fake hand pump as buzz around Sunny Deol – Ameesha Patel starrer rises

Gadar 2 is set to release in theatres on August 11. Starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the sequel promises a lot of fun, action and nostalgia. In the trailer, towards the end, you see Sunny Deol looking at a hand pump which is a direct callback to the scene in the first part which has remained iconic. Turns out, in theatres, apparently a fake hand pump has been set.

A fan was seen lifting the fake hand bump and the video has gone viral. The buzz around the movie is rising as the sequel promises entertainment.

Anil Sharma, at the trailer launch earlier this month, had said, “When I met him for the narration, he asked me, ‘Sharma ji, hum (Gadar 2) kyun bana rahe hai? Gadar itni badi hit hai. Uski ek legacy hai. I replied, ‘Kyunki poora Hindustan chahta hai ki Gadar 2 banein. Humein logon ki toh sunni chahiye’. This is when he agreed to a narration. When he heard the story, unki aankhon mein nanha sa ek aansoo aaya. That’s how the journey began’.”

The film is directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Zee Studios, Anil Sharma Productions and MM Moviez. It will release in theatres on August 11, 2023.

Bhushan Kumar attends Sonu Nigam’s 50th birthday party; pose for camera together, watch

Singer Sonu Nigam and Bhushan Kumar, the head of T-Series, have ended their feud and renewed their friendship. Sonu was seen ringing in his 50th birthday with Bhushan Kumar and a few other members of the industry on Saturday night.

In a video shared by a paparazzo, Sonu was seen greeting Bhushan at the birthday bash. The duo exchanged greetings before they joined others at the bash. Sonu was seen cutting a massive cake while Bhushan stood beside him. The singer also opened a bottle of champagne and treated his fellow singers and musicians at the party.

For the unversed, in 2020, Sonu opened up about the “music mafia” in the Bollywood industry. While he did not mention a name, many believed that he was referring to Bhushan Kumar. Shortly after, many musicians reacted to Sonu’s claims about nepotism and that did not go down well with the singer.

It seems that the two have finally put their differences aside. Their recent association was for Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. Sonu lent his voice to the song, ‘Main Ki Karaan.’

While sharing the photos, the Pati Patni Aur Woh actress wrote, “obsessed with rysa and her digital camera (or is it the other way around ).” Ananya’s BFF, Suhana Khan, loved the pictures and commented, “Wow my muse [angel emoticon].” The actress’ fans were also impressed with her looks and flooded the comment section with fire and heart emojis.

Ananya Panday is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Dream Girl 2, which also stars Ayushmann Khurrana. The Raaj Shaandaliyaa directorial is slated to release on August 25, 2023.

Farhan Akhtar shares photos from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s special screening on 10th anniversary for hearing and speech-impaired people: “Truly an overwhelming experience to be there and be part of this historic moment”

Released in 2013, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s directorial Bhaag Milkha Bhaag completed 10 years this month and to pay tribute to the Indian sprint legend, the late Milkha Singh, the COO of Viacom18 Studios, Ajit Andhare and Executive Producer of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, P. S. Bharathi from ROMP Pictures will be re-releasing the biographical sports drama on August 6 in selected theaters. Ahead of the re-release, a special screening was scheduled on July 26 for hearing and speech-impaired people at PVR Icon Andheri West, Mumbai and the cast came together to pay homage to the late Milkha Singh. Farhan Akhtar attended one screening with the team and was overwhelmed with the experience.

Sharing a slew of photos on Instagram, Farhan Akhtar wrote, “To celebrate a decade of Milkha ji’s story on film, a screening was held in Mumbai for people with hearing loss. The Indian Sign Language Organisation (ISL), Viacom 18 and Bharathi Mehra have worked for months and created a theatrical version of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag with sign language. Their effort is beyond exemplary. It was truly an overwhelming experience to be there and be part of this historic moment. Thank you to @pvrcinemas_official for supporting this and re-releasing the film with sign language in over 30 screens across the country.”

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag traced the inspiring journey of the late Milkha Singh played by Farhan Akhtar and how he overcomes many agonizing obstacles in order to become a world champion, Olympian, and one of India’s most iconic athletes. Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt is playing a full-length role in Double iSmart. The actor joined the shoot in the very first schedule. Today, the makers introducing Sanjay Dutt’s character as Big Bull have unveiled his first look poster.

Sporting a funky hairdo and a beard, Sanjay Dutt looks ultra stylish in the poster in a suit with earrings, rings, an expensive watch, and a tattoo on his face and fingers. Looks fierce, Sanjay Dutt is seen smoking a cigar in the first look poster, though all the guns are pointed towards him. It’s apparent through the poster that Sanjay Dutt is playing a powerful character.

Puri will be showing Sanjay Dutt in a never-seen-before avatar in Double iSmart. It will be exciting for fans and movie buffs to see Ram and Sanjay Dutt together. This wild combination has surely raised expectations for the movie. Hollywood cinematographer Gianni Giannelli is working for this high-voltage action entertainer. Double iSmart is being made on a high budget with technically high in standards. The makers will reveal the other cast and crew of the movie soon.

Prabhas’ Facebook account gets hacked; Salaar actor issues statement

The official Facebook page of Prabhas was hacked on Thursday and the actor had to issue a statement. He took to his Instagram account to inform his fans that his team is looking into the matter.

On late Thursday, Prabhas confirmed the hack and wrote on Instagram Stories, “Hello everyone, my Facebook page has been compromised. The team is sorting this out.” This was after two videos were shared on his Facebook page which were captioned captioned ‘Unlucky Humans’ and ‘Ball fails around the world’.

On the work front, Prabhas’ latest outing, Adipurush, helmed by Om Raut, received heavy criticism and backlash for its adaptation of Ramayana. He is now gearing up for Prashanth Neel’s directorial Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire. The film also features Shruti Haasan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles. It is slated for a theatrical release on September 28.

Prabhas will also be starring in Nag Ashwin directorial Kalki 2898 AD. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamanl Hassan in important roles. The film’s first glimpse was released at San Diego Comic Con 2023. The film releases in January 2024.

Captain Miller team unveils the teaser of the Dhanush film on his birthday

Dhanush will be seen in an action-packed role in the upcoming film Captain Miller. The film was announced with much fanfare last year and now the makers have unveiled the first teaser of the film on the occasion of the actor’s birthday on July 28. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, it is expected to be a period drama which is set during the British Raj of 1930s, in the pre-Independence era.

The teaser showcases the action side of Dhanush, who is fighting with British soldiers with heavy weapons like rifles as he wages a war against them. He is also seen escaping the hands of British police multiple times in his bike and later one of the officers refer to him with multiple names like ‘Eesa’, ‘Analeesan’, or ‘Captain Miller’, wondering which one is his name. If reports are to be believed, the movie features Dhanush in a dual role of father and son.

Captain Miller also features Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan and John Kokken in important roles. It is presented by T.G. Thyagarajan of Sathya Jyothi Films and produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan. The film is co-produced by G. Saravanan and Sai Siddharth. Madhan Karky who worked for films like the Baahubali franchise, RRR, and Pushpa has penned dialogues for the Tamil version of the movie.

The movie was announced in July 2022 and the shoot kicked off in September 2022. It has been majorly shot in Chennai, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi. GV Prakash Kumar is helming the music composition, Siddhartha Nuni is the cinematographer and Nagooran Ramachandran is the editor.

The period action entertainer is expected to hit the big screens on December 15, 2023 in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Besides this, Dhanush also has films like Tere Ishk Mein, D50 and D51 in the pipeline.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: Writer Ishita Moitra overwhelmed with positive response: “Thank you Karan Johar for giving me some of the most incredible writing days of my life”

In his 25^th year as a filmmaker, Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt released today in theatres worldwide. The film also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Bengali actors Tota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly. As the appreciation is increasing tenfold for the film, writer Ishita Moitra penned a heartfelt note and shared a series of photos with Karan Johar, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

In a lengthy note on Friday, Ishita Moitra thankd Karan Johar for giving the opportunity to channel her creative energy. She wrote, “Soch nayi swaad wahi”. To me this represents the core tenet of #RRKPK. While this film is a love letter to Hindi cinema, we also aimed for it to, within its warm embrace make some pertinent points about gender roles, cancel culture, and of course, patriarchy. Thank you @karanjohar for giving me some of the most incredible writing days of my life. Our discussions, the old Hindi film songs, the Sau Din Saas Ke conversations and of course, the fat free, gluten free, sugar free – FREE- cakes. There is an ease about you, that makes work fun and stress free, and that’s so hard to replicate. You are a force of nature and a creative giant. And I learn something from you, every second I spend with you. When I moved to Mumbai, much to the amusement of everyone, I used to announce quite seriously that one day I was going to write for KJo. Aamir Khan joins PM Narendra Modi at inauguration of Bharat Mandapam, see video

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was in attendance in New Delhi on Wednesday at the inauguration ceremony of the newly built International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) named as ‘Bharat Mandapam’. The inauguration was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At the event, Aamir was dressed in a maroon kurta and white pyjama and was seated in the front row. The new International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) will be India’s largest conference and exhibition venue.

Aamir Khan is yet to announce his next project. However, he is producing the Hindi remake of the Spanish film Campeones. Farhan Akhtar is reportedly essaying the lead role.

Gadar 2 trailer launch: Ameesha Patel opens up about playing a mother at the beginning of her career in Gadar: “This was the time when I was doing films with Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan; in all these films, I was playing a college girl”

The trailer launch event of Gadar 2 was mismanaged and highly delayed. But it boasted some entertaining moments thanks to the artists of the film who shared fascinating trivia about the film. Ameesha Patel narrated how she was told by some of the prominent people of the Bollywood fraternity that she should not sign Gadar (2001), in which she played a mother.

Ameesha Patel said, “When Anil Sharma narrated the story of Gadar to me, there were some of the biggest Bollywood personalities whom I met. I won’t like to name them. They told me, ‘Aap yeh kaisa role kar rahe ho? Aur kyun kar rahe ho?’ This was the time when I was doing a film with Salman Khan (Yeh Hai Jalwa; 2002), in which I was playing a college-going girl. I was working on a film with Ajay Devgn (Parwana; 2003), in which he played a professor while I again was a college student. I was also working on two films with Hrithik Roshan – Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000) and Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage (2002). In both these films, I was yet again playing a young girl. Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai had not even released and everyone was of the opinion that ‘aap maa ka role kar hi nahin paaoge’. But I like challenges and going out of my comfort zone. I also had faith in my director (Anil Sharma). He’s brilliant. Aur itni khoobsurat prem kahani, na pehle kabhi likhi thi, na kabhi koi likhega.”

Ameesha continued, “It was difficult but Anil ji used to patiently guide me at every step to ensure I look like a mother and not a college student. He worked with me on dialogues, looks etc for 6 months. We used to sit for 12 hours a day.”

Ameesha Patel then said, “When Gadar 2 was being discussed, again people questioned me, ‘Dude, have you seen yourself on Instagram? ‘Lazy Lamhe’ waali ladki ab kaise Gadar karegi? How will she play mother to a 20-year-old boy? I decided to take up the challenge yet again!”

Also present at the event were Sunny Deol, Utkarsh Sharma, director Anil Sharma, Shariq Patel of Zee Studios etc.

Gadar 2 trailer launch: Anil Sharma opens on Sunny Deol’s hammer scene: “My team said, ‘Bollywood aur South ke stars yeh scene karte toh bhi accha lagta lekin jaise Sunny sir lag rahe hai, waisa koi nahin lagta’”

Gadar – Ek Prem Katha (2001) is one of the biggest hits of Indian cinema. It elevated Sunny Deol’s stardom by many notches. He showed his romantic and comic side in the film but he was loved the most for his action avatar. Some of the action scenes in the film have achieved cult status. As a result, the expectations are immense from Gadar 2. The trailer of the film was launched yesterday, on July 26. The response has been positive, especially for the action sequences involving the veteran star.

Anil Sharma excitedly spoke about Sunny Deol at the trailer launch, “There’s a scene involving Sunny Deol doing action with a hammer. Our team of 10-15 people were sitting one day. I asked them, ‘Jo Bollywood aur South ke bade bade hero hai, woh yeh scene karte toh kaise lagta?’ They unanimously said, ‘Woh log karte toh bhi accha lagta lekin jaise Sunny sir lag rahe hai, waisa koi nahin lagta’!” As expected, fans and media broke into applause over this statement.

Anil Sharma also stated, “When I met him for the narration, he asked me, ‘Sharma ji, hum (Gadar 2) kyun bana rahe hai? Gadar itni badi hit hai. Uski ek legacy hai. I replied, ‘Kyunki poora Hindustan chahta hai ki Gadar 2 banein. Humein logon ki toh sunni chahiye’. This is when he agreed to a narration. When he heard the story, unki aankhon mein nanha sa ek aansoo aaya. That’s how the journey began’.”

Anil Sharma talked highly of Sunny Deol’s co-star Ameesha Patel, “Then Sakina came on board. I fail to understand yeh itni sundar kaise lagti hai? Inka roop badhta hi ja raha hai. Samay badh raha hai par inki umar kam hoti ja rahi hai!”

Gadar 2 releases in cinemas on August 11.

The trailer of Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, released on Wednesday. The trailer showcases Tara Singh in his formidable and action-packed avatar. The trailer was released on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas. The trailer was launched at a grand event attended by Anil Sharma, Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Shariq Patel, Simrat Kaur, Mithoon, Alka Yagnik, Jubin Nautiyal and Aditya Narayan.

Set amidst the tumultuous ‘Crush India Movement’ of 1971, the trailer is packed with powerful dialogues, and high-octane action featuring military tankers, trucks, and the iconic hand pump. The India vs Pakistan storytelling has become the brand of Gadar over the years. However, Sunny Deol says that people of both countries have equal love for each other. It is the politics that birth the hatred.

Speaking to reporters at the Gadar 2 trailer launch, Sunny Deol, who is also BJP MP from Punjab’s Gurdaspur, said, ‘The essence lies in humanity, not in taking or giving. There is love on both sides (India-Pakistan). It is the political game that creates all this hatred. And you will see the same in this film as well that the people do not want us to fight with each other.”

The film is directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Zee Studios, Anil Sharma Productions and MM Moviez. It will release in theatres on August 11, 2023.

Gadar 2 trailer launch: “Anil Sharma mujhe naaraaz karte rehte hai aur main inse fight karti rehti hoon. I BLOCK him on Instagram and WhatsApp” – Ameesha Patel

Ameesha Patel is back on the big screen with Gadar 2, the much-awaited film, which releases on August 11. However, her presence ignited controversy, especially after she alleged that there was mismanagement on the sets of the film. Yesterday, that is, on July 25, the invite for the trailer launch of Gadar 2 was sent in which Ameesha Patel’s name was absent from the list of attendees. It raised eyebrows and gave rise to speculations that she is being kept away from the event. Ameesha did make it to the event but the media wasn’t allowed to ask questions impromptu and very selected and ‘safe’ questions were taken from the journalists beforehand. As a result, no one got a chance to ask Ameesha Patel about the allegations.

However, Ameesha Patel did open up a bit about her love-hate bond with Anil Sharma at the trailer launch. She began by cutely gesturing how Anil Sharma rubs both his hands while speaking to her. She said, “Anil ji bina saabun haath dhote rehte hai. I’ll show you.” She then demonstrated and it led to laughter.

Ameesha Patel continued, “During our first schedule in Palampur, he got obsessed with showing fog. We never heard ‘Cut’, ‘Action’, ‘Okay’ etc from him. Instead, he used to only shout ‘fog’, ‘fog’, ‘fog’. And yet, he used to say ‘Main VFX se aur fog add karunga’!”

Ameesha then said, “He’s a perfectionist. We have a father-daughter relationship. We fight a lot. Yeh mujhe naaraaz karte rehte hai aur main inse fight karti rehti hoon. I block him on Instagram and WhatsApp. Then I unblock him again. Yeh hamara rishta hai.”

It was also revealed that it was on Ameesha Patel’s recommendation that Anil Sharma’s son Utkarsh was cast as Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakina’s (Ameesha Patel) son in the first part. He also reprises the role in the sequel. Ameesha remarked, “I got Utkarsh on board for Gadar. I always tell Anil ji, ‘Aapke dono bacche itne khoobsurat hai ki Sakina aur Tara ki beti hoti toh aap apni beti bhi de dijiye mujhe’!”
